As the founder and principal of a design/build landscape construction company since 1985, I know very well that "they are one" and as such, need to be considered as one from the beginning. Good design should be cohesive and the different elements should relate to each other; also the construction process is by nature a series of phases that build upon each other, so a comprehensive plan in the beginning allows for efficiencies and savings through the entire process.
